Dear, Barbara Joe,

I have been having a lot of fun farming in Prince Edward Island. We have been working very hard planting and harvesting crops.

Since it is 1873 confederation has began. I am very nervous about confederation. I don't want Prince Edward Island to change. It is a very beautiful place. Since we have joined confederation the capital is Ottawa. We can't get to Ottawa to say what we need. That is a big problem for us.

Another big problem for us is that no farmers on the island own the land that they farm on. The farms are owned by landlords in Britain. All of the farmers here are renters.

Also, in the cold winter we are completely cut off from the main land.

One thing that I am happy about is that we don't have to worry about being attacked by the United States since we don't share a common boarder. But, just incase of an invasion by sea, the British Navy are protecting us.
