Letter To Juliet

Dear Juliet .S. Richington,                                                            June 18th, 1867

Life as a lumber jack in New Brunswick, is sort of tough. Everyone is worried that the Fenians are going to attack, and if they do, we don't have a railway to get weapons and defend ourselves. Most of us wont make it, so I am glad that you are still in Britain.
Another bad thing about not having a railway, is that trade is so slow! If we had a railway where we needed it, we would be able to make a lot more than we do, because of the increase In trade. The only good thing here, is the scenery.
I wish you could see it. It's beautiful here, all the different types of trees, I bet our little girl would love it here. I miss Penelope. How is she doing? She has probably grown a lot since I have last seen her. Have you taught her to cook yet? I bet by the time I get home, our little Penelope will be making me, four course meals.

I can't wait until confederation. It will probably be difficult, but I believe it will make a huge difference, In a good way. Write back to me as soon as you get this letter. I miss you so much Juliet.

                                                                          Love, Edward .T. Richington
